Chocolate Banana Pops

If you're the type of gal who needs a sweet treat immediately upon finishing a meal, you're in the right place. To be honest, this might be the easiest dessert you ever make.

These easy frozen treats are made with ripe bananas, melted chocolate, and your favorite toppings. They're sweet, chocolatey, a little crunchy, and the best part? You can customize them however you want. I went with peanut butter, chopped peanuts, and dried strawberries, and let me tell you—they did not last long in my freezer.

What You'll Need

  • 3 bananas

  • 1 cup chocolate chips of your choice

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • Peanut butter

  • Your favorite toppings

  • Popsicle sticks

Nothing complicated, no fancy ingredients, and no baking required. Just a few simple things you probably already have in your kitchen.

How to Make Chocolate-Covered Banana Pops

1. Get your bananas ready

Start by cutting your bananas in half. Press a popsicle stick into the cut end of each banana half. I find it easiest to gently push the stick in rather than forcing it, so you don't split the banana.

2. Melt the chocolate

Add your chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second increments, stirring in between each one, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

The coconut oil helps make the chocolate nice and smooth for dipping, which is exactly what we want here.

3. Dip your bananas

Now for the fun part! Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, making sure it's coated to your liking. Place each chocolate-covered banana on a piece of parchment paper.

Don't worry about making them perfect. We're adding toppings anyway!

4. Add your toppings

While the chocolate is still melted, add your peanut butter and whatever toppings your heart desires.

For mine, I used chopped peanuts and dried strawberries. The combination of the creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanuts, sweet banana, and chocolate is so good.

You could also try sprinkles, shredded coconut, crushed cookies, mini chocolate chips, or anything else you have sitting in your pantry.

5. Freeze and enjoy

Place your banana pops in the freezer until the chocolate is completely set and the bananas are nice and cold.

A Few Tips

Don't overheat your chocolate. The 15-second intervals are important because chocolate can go from perfectly melted to burnt pretty quickly. Stirring between each interval helps it melt evenly.

Add your toppings right away. Since the bananas are cold, the chocolate will start to harden pretty quickly. Have your toppings ready to go so they stick to the chocolate.

Make them your own. This is one of those recipes where you really can't mess it up. Switch up the chocolate, try different toppings, or make a few different combinations and see which one is your favorite.

My Favorite Combination

If you want to make them exactly how I did, I used melted chocolate, peanut butter, chopped peanuts, and dried strawberries. The dried strawberries add a little tartness and crunch that I absolutely love with the chocolate and banana.

Honestly, these are dangerous to keep in the freezer because they're just too easy to grab when you want something sweet.
